Procedures

In order to avoid potential delays in the exportation of merchandise, it is strongly recommended that you familiarize yourself with the required documents and procedures.
The Border Protection Division must be notified of your intention to export containerized cargo.

Commercial Exporting

All individuals or entities engaging in the exportation of goods for commercial purposes should:
Register with Jamaica Trade & Invest at www.jamaicatradeandinvest.org. Registration is required only for individuals or entities exporting commercial goods or goods for the purpose of trade which will result in the generation of revenue. An exporter is not required to register under the following circumstances:

1. Goods imported for temporary use and are to be subsequently re- exported.
2. Goods exported for subsequent re-importation.
3. *Goods for which duty was paid and subsequently re-exported.

*Permission must be sought from the Collector of Customs prior to re-exportation.

Steps in exporting:

1. Log on to the Jamaica Single Window for Trade (JSWIFT) platform to access relevant permits/licenses/certifications from the relevant Border Regulatory Agencies (BRAs).
2. Log on to the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA World) and prepare Export Declaration.
   • First time exporters apply for an ASYCUDA account with the JCA – email awinfo@jacustoms.gov.jm
3. Upload Commercial invoices (mandatory), export licences/permits and/or any approval, if applicable.
4. Pay for and submit Export Declaration to Customs.

*Goods for which duty was paid and subsequently re-exported. Permission must be sought from the Collector of Customs prior to re-exportation.
